As if the popularity of Jersey City didn’t expand our summer movies program enough, mega beach bar Surf City has started their own “Movies on the Beach” program to celebrate the last three weeks of the summer season. Enjoy these cult classics the next three Wednesdays!

Other notes: Parks in the Jersey City and Hudson County area host these films and live performances thanks to The Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association, the Van Vorst Park Association, Jersey City Cultural Affairs, the City of Hoboken and the County of Hudson. All events begin at sundown, unless otherwise noted. Be sure to bring your own blankets and chairs!

Newport Beach’s Annual Beach Party will take place along the Hudson River’s waterfront Newport Green (700 Washington Blvd.) on July 13th from 5-8pm.
There will be two live performances by native rock band The Fuzzy Lemons, and the nationally-famed The Benjamins. Local restaurants Bwe Café, Raaz, Loradella’s and Cosi will be selling food and bevvies.
Newport Beach, if you didn’t already know, is: 8,000 square feet of authentic, castle-building sand, dozens of Adirondack chairs and large colorful umbrellas. Take in picture-perfect views of the Manhattan skyline, from the Empire State building to the One World Trade Center.

YAAAS, Jersey City. Shout out your Fourth of July Freedom from the rooftops, or just join the party on ground level at Liberty State Park for the Freedom & Fireworks Festival.
Here we have live bands, carnival rides, food & drink, and of course…fireworks on the Hudson River.
The best way to get to Liberty State Park is probably by bike, considering the long walk you will have by car or PATH methods. The next best option is the Light Rail. Please read NJ Transit Advisories for the Fourth of July Freedom & Fireworks Show to plan your trip for maximum fun.

It’s the second JC Friday of the season, tonight, June 3rd, Jersey City! In lieu of a post trying to detail everything, I’m simply sharing a photo of the event pamphlet so you can have it at the ready on your mobile phone (just zoom in).
Since it seems daunting to tackle everything, I say pick a neighborhood you are unfamiliar with in Jersey City and attempt to visit as many places as possible there. Jersey City is a large, large city and has so much to offer. Personally, I love exploring new places and the people that live there.
On the other hand, if you are superhuman and manage to go to everything listed, please let me know and I will figure out some sort of prize for you because that is impressive!
