The creator of the Mr. McKnit Holiday Patch Kit, Michael Simon, will be on hand to provide ugly sweaterless guests the ability to get into the holiday spirit and will also guest judge the competition. Here’s me in my Michael Simon.

Oktoberfest at Zeppelin Hall

zeppelin

Jersey City’s very own biergarten, Zeppelin Hall, (88 Liberty Drive, Jersey City, NJ) is celebrating Oktoberfest in a big way.

On September 26th Zeppelin Hall kicked off a month-long celebration, where they’re serving Oktoberfest-approved beers such as Stammwurze, Hofbrau, Paulaner, Spatenbrau, and Hacker-Pschorr-Brau on top of the 50 European and American craft beers already available on tap. And what goes better with German beer than traditional bavarian dishes such as Schweinhaxe (pork shank) and Goulash over Spaetzle? Regional sausages and pretzels imported from Munich, Germany (where Oktoberfest originated) will also be on the menu.

German party bands will play at 10pm on weekends, with Die Spitzabaum and The Adlers being featured heavily.

Zeppelin Hall’s Summer Bacon Festival 8/14-8/24

Summer Bacon Festival Flyer

Zeppelin Hall (88 Liberty View Drive) is hosting a Summer Bacon Festival, which starts today and carries on through August 24th. Enjoy bacon thirteen ways—seriously.

ZH recommends the Bacon Lobster Taco Thermidor, a taco shell made entirely of bacon stuffed with green cabbage/sautéed lobster/applewood smoked bacon/pepper jack. Or try their sampler of the big B with the Bacon Sausages Trio: cracked black pepper bacon sausage/hickory bacon sausage/aged cheddar bacon sausage served with arugula salad and a choice of bacon potato salad or bacon French fries with spicy bacon mayo.

Also on the menu is the Bacon Encrusted Pork Rib Eye SteakBacon Wrapped Buffalo Frankfurter and many more creative bacon dishes all offered under $17. Free bacon strips are available at the bar from 4pm-7pm during the festival.

Too much? Not enough?

If you want sweet, opt to “dessert” your bacon: Chocolate Covered Bacon and Bacon Cotton Candy are available.

Bring home the bacon,

JCG
