It’s that time of year where we welcome the most amazing annual flea market ever, that of Jersey City’s Riverview-Fisk Park. This year already boasts over 100 vendors (including me). 

Free zumba? 10:15 am
Free yoga? 11am
Children’s activities? ?

Additionally, there will be live music from Payaso Triste, GMJ Groove, Crash Gordan & Debra Dynamite, Sea of Otters and the Martin Maretto Duo.

Friday 5/3/13:

Polish Flag Raising Celebrate your heritage at the City Hall Council Chambers (280 Grove Street) for the Polish Flag Raising ceremony (12pm).

Spring craft of the week for children at the Zabriskie St. branch of the library (the Heights). 3:30pm; registration required. Details here.

Annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta Historic downtown is hosting its annual Mexican fete. 4pm-12am. 279 Grove St.

Not Yo Mama’s Parks & Crafts. Drop by Van Vorst Park (Montgomery St. and Jersey Ave.) anytime from 11am-4pm to shop innovative crafty goods and listen to live music.

Jersey City Pet Owner’s Day. Drop by the Bethune Center parking lot (140 M.L.K. Drive) anytime from 10am to 4pm to get your fluffy friend free rabies shots, free 3-in-1 shots, and licensing (cats do not need to be licensed in Jersey City). Clinics will also provide free counseling on spay/neutering, and for a small fee, microchipping, take-home dosages of Strongid (for worms), and activity flea/tick treatments. Keep your pet healthy. Kentucky Derby Day! Bars all over the city will be serving up drink specials (and mint juleps) in honor of the race.

Art House Productions presents “Sketching Summer’s Twilight,” a new musical project that needs public feedback. Hence, a talk and party after the performance. Composed by Kevin Clark. 7:30pm at 1 McWilliams Place. (Hamilton Square). To buy tickets ($10 each), click here.

Mindfulness Meditation. From 9-10:30, join others in the community for a morning meditation session at Yoga Shunya (275 Grove St., 3rd fl.) Small donation suggested.

Families, it’s time for the annual St. Mark’s Easterfest. Activities planned for this year include a bungee run, basketball & soccer shootout challenges, a bounce castle, a dunk tank and many other events. Plenty of food (cheesesteaks, burgers, dogs, wings) will help you replenish. 10am to 4pm, free entry, open to public. Coptic Orthodox Church of St. Mark (427 West. Spring Rummage Sale at St. Matthew’s Church. Shop through clothing, furniture, and housewares. All proceeds are donated to the church. St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (83 Wayne St.) 12pm-3pm.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo! Lots of drink specials at Jersey City Restaurants. I’ll be at Boca Grande for my festive margarita and Taqueria Downtown (it’s finally reopened after Sandy!) for a taco.
