Lutze Biergarten Grand Opening [Now on Thursday, May 4]

Lutze Biergarten has moved their grand opening in Jersey City (15 Second St., Harborside Plaza) to this Thursday, May 4th due to probably rain on F riday. Whatever the case, it is great news for the city’s Thirsty Thursday crowd.

The party begins at 5pm and lasts until midnight. Expect live music, food vendors, face painting(!), and a Bounce House – yes, it is kid-friendly, and dogs are welcome, too, yay. But the best part: a late-night fireworks show!

Lutze Biergarten is outdoors and on the waterfront near the Exchange Place PATH, ferry, light rail, etc. Not only will they feature a rotating cast of craft beers, but cocktails and food as well. Also, the literature says it’s named after Wilhelm (Willy) Lutze, who lived in Jersey City his entire life (1900-1973). A child of immigrant German parents, Willy worked hard as a carpenter and mason to support his wife and four daughters.

In honor of Willy and for the love of Jersey City, Lutze (the establishment) will be donating a substantial portion of their profits to local charities and political causes that benefit Jersey City.

We can all cheers to that,

Goddess Night: Kennedy Dancers [This Saturday!]

Let’s take another moment to celebrate females. The Kennedy Dancers of Jersey City are performing Goddess Night – An Evening of Belli Dance and Female Wisdom this Saturday, April 22 at 7:30pm at 79 Central Ave. (the corner of Beacon and Central) in Jersey City.

Yes, there is belly dancing (apparently the “y” is an Americanized thing) throughout. The presentation is multifaceted — there will be a mystical theme overlaying the following dance styles: cultural, folk, tribal fusion and Arabic.

The dances are meant to transport you back to a time when belly dancing had meaningful purposes. Seriously. Once upon a time, belly dancing was an important component to traditions, whether rituals, rights of passage or other significant life events.

Kennedy Dancers Inner City Youth Junior Dance Company are performing with choreography by Diane Dragone.

Tickets are $20pp in advance and $25pp at the door. Price includes light fare and bevvies.

Best part: All proceeds from the fundraiser help the Inner City Junior Dance Company, which is awesome.

Experience something great & feel good about it,
JCG
