JC Small Business Luncheon 12/11

So many choices...

The Jersey City Small Business Forum is holding a special luncheon at 12pm this Friday, December 11th at Hudson County Community College (161 Newkirk Street at Sip Ave.).

The forum will address the needs of the Jersey City small business community and raise awareness of financial products and services, and technical assistance available to small businesses in Jersey City, while providing the tools necessary for businesses to remain stable and grow.

Registration and a buffet will begin at 11:30am at the Jersey City Culinary Conference Center in the building.

Mayor Fulop will deliver welcoming remarks, and the event will feature expert panelists from the City of Jersey City, Rising Tide Capital, Jackson Hill Main Street Management Corporation, Investors Bank, and the 504 Company, who will discuss the opportunities and challenges facing small business leaders and owners in Jersey City.

Topics to be covered: Access to capital and technical assistance for small businesses; business and investment planning; tax preparation; how to create your business portfolio and plan for growth, and micro lending opportunities.

This is a not-miss for Jersey City entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Knowledge is power. Knowledge is wealth.

Downtown Jersey City Business Networking Group

meetup

In August, I was invited to a networking event for the Meetup group titled “The Downtown Jersey City Business Networking Group.” Frank Petronella, who will soon be opening a State Farm agency in the area, created the group as a way to get other local professionals together on a monthly basis to share tips, strategies, and not only promote their own initiatives but to connect and do business with others.

While this was only their second event, I found that most attendees had been to the previous month’s meetup, and many of them had worked together after that. When we went around the room to introduce ourselves, lots of people put in plugs for other business owners and professionals who were present.

This is just the kind of network we need here in Jersey City. DJCBNG “encourages business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals to build and maintain lasting relationships with other professionals in our community.”

The next event will be this Thursday, September 12th at Serenity Day Spa (263 Grand St.), which is owned by energetic and enthusiastic member Diane, so expect a great night of networking.

Oh, and feel free to invite others in the neighborhood who you think will benefit from this group.
