FASHION ON THIS SIDE OF THE RIVER. FOR THOSE LATE TO THE 6th BOROUGH GAME, OF COURSE!
Jersey City Fashion Week starts tomorrow, Wednesday, September 25th.
JCFW will spotlight some of the most imaginative and talented emerging designers all while giving industry insiders and fashion lovers a glimpse into Jersey City’s vibrant social and cultural scene. Throughout the week (technically four days), there will be fashion shows, charity functions, cultural events, cocktail parties and networking receptions.
The opening reception will be at VB3 (475 Washington Blvd.), Thursday September 26th. Mix and mingle with designers, models and photographers from 6-11pm. $30 in advance; $40 at the door.
Friday will be particularly fabulous with the “Night of Lights” (JC’s version of that other city’s Fashion’s Night Out), where participating shops and restaurants offer discounts to patrons, with the goal of showcasing fashion, dining and fun in the historic downtown Jersey City area.
Other events include: A children’s fashion show, a women of influence reception, emerging designer show and a style tips soiree. Here’s the list of designers showcasing.
Jersey City Fashion Week is a program derived from the foundation Give to Live Community Foundation, dedicated to promoting awareness for charitable causes. Last year, the Foundation donated $3,600 between various charities such as; Dress for Success, Boys and Girls Club, York Street Project and Art House Production, all located in Hudson County.
This year, JCFW and Give to Live we will donate part of the proceeds to Rising Tide Capital , Uneeek Inspiration and The Hope Center for the Visual and Performing Arts. Rising Tide helps people in the community create and maintain businesses while Uneeek Inspiration gives hope to children of parents who are incarcerated. The Hope Center gives children in Jersey City an opportunity to grow in the arts. Join in on the fun and help those less fortunate in our great city.
I love me some sparkle—even better if it’s for charitable causes.

Friday, September 20th is PARK(ing) Day in Jersey City. The annual event (also global) is when citizens, artists and activists collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into “PARK(ing)” spaces, a.k.a. temporary public spaces. Ours takes place at the Grove Street PATH Plaza from 5-9pm.
Bike repair demonstrations will be provided by Bike JC. There will also be a special 3rd Friday Ride, which will depart circa 6:50pm and last approximately an hour at a relaxed pace. Don’t forget your helmet!!! and, of course, your lights—because it will get dark.
Tonight is National Night Out, also know as America’s Night Against Crime, where we celebrate our police officers who work hard to make our communities safe places to live. Jersey City will be honoring its officers in four locations: Pershing Field, Hamilton Park, Audubon Park and Arlington Park.
Mayor Fulop will be stopping by each location to assist the Jersey City Police Department and local service organizations in providing tips to citizens about how we can all work together to make Jersey city a better place to live.
Get your info on from 6:30-9:30 pm, and have fun with games, giveaways, refreshments and other types of entertainment. Come celebrate & support those who serve our community.
