Registration for JCSA Summer Sessions is now open for all 5-11 year-old girls! The program helps girls improve their soccer skills by playing small-sided games and focusing on a different core skill each week, including dribbling, shooting, passing and field position.
They are held at the Caven Point Sports Complex on Sundays July 13th – August 4th from 5:15pm – 6:30pm. Participants do not have to be affiliated with the JCSA or live in Jersey City, but JCSA players registered for the 2013-2014 season play free ($10 suggested donation) and new players pay $10 to cover insurance.
As always with all JCSA events, players should have shin guards, water and a parent / legal guardian near the field at all times.
DEALS & STEALS: Get ’em while they’re hot and save some $$$$$ in Jersey City.
For $35, enjoy a dinner for two at ME Casa, downtown’s Purto Rican resto (356 Varick St.). Includes one shared appetizer and two individual entrees.Details here.
Visit Liberty Science Center (222 Jersey City Blvd.) and pay only $10 per person for admission.Read more here.
The 6th Borough Market returns this summer Sunday, this time behind City Hall on Montgomery St. @ Marin Blvd.
The Market is a curated mix of artisan crafts and vintage goods for sale, and the experience is topped off with children’s activities and yummy eats. Artists, collectors and chefs gather to provide a fun experience for families on one given Sunday each month during the warm season. This Sunday, look for a very limited edition of urban cycling caps by Cecilia and Reuben.
(Upcoming dates: July 20, August 10, September 14, and October 19.) For those of you who missed the festivities last year, here are a few mentions from me.
