Iiiiiiiiiiit’s back! This Sunday marks the second 6th Borough Market, which boasts tons of unique vendors. Think quality homemade and vintage goods, gift items, jewelry, stuff for kids, beauty and bath treats, and then of course kids’ activities and food.
The outdoor family-friendly market is located at 1 McWilliams Place (Hamilton Park) from 11am-4pm.
This Saturday marks the annual Jersey City Columbus Day Parade. So much attention is placed on Breast Cancer Awareness in October, but it is also Italian Heritage Month. Join your fellow Italians march down Newark Avenue (starting at 6th Street) at 1pm on Saturday.
In their words: “A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit 4th Street Arts, Inc. in its mission to promote and grow the artist community in Jersey City. If you are interested in attending, competing, or judging, check out the official Jersey City Homebrew Competition Facebook page.”
This weekend marks one of the most fabulous (one of my favorite) weekends in Jersey City—that of the Artists Studio Tour. Residents of Jersey City are invited to the homes/studios of Jersey City artists. You’ll view their work, chat with them and can purchase snappy new pieces to adorn your walls and tables.
It’s the weekend my Mom buys another Jesus or Mary silk-screened piece from Shawn Michael Lang (the artist of the above), my Aunt Jennifer takes me to Grigory Gurevich’s house and Barrow St. Mansion, and my boyfriend or best friend and I get separated at 150 Bay in different studio apartments. (I will be checking out James Fraser this year.) Check 150 Bay Street’s flier here.
The kick-off party is on Friday, October 4th at the Tenmarc Building. Shuttles will run from the Grove Street PATH starting at 5:30pm.
There will be unique vendors (think crafty things like homemade beauty products, one-of-a-kind jewelry, stationery, all-natural candles, handmade baby products and leather goods) 11am-4pm at Van Vorst Park. The live music will be open-mic.
