Thanksgiving For All At Iron Monkey

IM_thanksgivingThe Iron Monkey Bar & Restaurant (97 Greene Street) will host its 19th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 26 where it will open its doors and serve meals to its Jersey City neighbors in need.

Last year, the Iron Monkey served over 500 meals and hopes to increase that number to 600 meals served this Thanksgiving. While many of its invited guests are from local retirement communities, anyone in Jersey City in need of holiday cheer is welcome to participate.

Meals will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will be served during four separate seating times. Reservations are suggested, and can be made by calling the Iron Monkey at 201-435-5756.

24-Hour Songwriting Challenge

The 2nd Annual 24-Hour Songwriting Challenge consisted of musicians from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania who recorded new and original music in a 24-hour period on September 12th, 2015.

Not only is this a fun challenge, all proceeds from the whole album or indivual tracks are going to benefit various chapters of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in New Jersey.

For the artists, whomever’s track receives the most individual downloads from now until November 16th will win time at EightSixteen Studios to re-record their submission as a proper single (minus the 24-hour restriction).

The 37 tracks were curated by Speak Into My Good Eye. You can listen to all tracks here.
