Today at 3pm, Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery (435 Newark Ave.) hosts “Susan Murphy & Mario Giacalone In Concert” with special guest Jenna Sofia.

Suggested donation of $10. Your money supports the restoration of the ENTIRELY volunteer-operated historic site.

Last Summer Hurrah

I’m not sure about you, but I don’t feel like I got enough of summer. It started out cold and rainy, then there was a crazy heat wave, and then I got so busy I didn’t have time to vacate or even stay-cate…until the last two weeks of August. Breath of air, if I do say so myself.

Now, I’m itching for more. Even though the calendar says it’s September and Labor Day has past, it’s still (sometimes) nice out. For those of you who think summer was a bit too short and want to get out one last hurrah, let’s enjoy the sunshine upon us and still-decent daylight hours.

What better way to stretch the summer than to sit on the beach at Surf City this weekend?

Remembering 9/11

9.11

I was sitting in class my freshmen year at NYU, and a loud noise sounded. “Damn that construction,” my teacher cursed. We had yet to realize what that noise really was.

When I left the building, people seemed frantic outside. I bumped into a friend who pointed at the sky and said “Look!”

I looked. I’ll never forget that image. What a beautiful blue-skied day, those towers shining like crystal when I walked to class, and what a burning mess it was now. Debris and un-breathable air.
