Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) presents ARTOBERFEST – a day of arts, diversity and community – this Saturday (9/27) from 12-8pm at 339 Newark Avenue, in the parking lot of Merseles Studios.

ARTOBERFEST features art, music, dance, and theater. The Jersey City Brew Club’s 4th Annual Homebrew Competition also will be featured at the festival. Premium beer and homemade Italian food will be sold throughout the day. The entertainment includes music from bands and a DJ, dance, comedy, theater and visual arts. In addition, the latest Jersey City Mural, commissioned by JCTC and painted on the Southern wall of the Merseles Parking Lot, will be unveiled for its public debut.

The event is free and open to the public.

Restoration: Jersey City Art Exhibition

A limited-run art show is happening this week from Wednesday-Friday (April 16-18) at City Life Church, 125 1st Street (corner of 1st & Provost).

Restoration is an interactive exhibit with pieces consisting of photography, paintings and light sculpture, featuring local Jersey City artists.

The show starts at 7:30pm each evening, with a special gathering on the 18th in honor of Good Friday.

JC Arts School: Register Now

There’s still time to enroll in 4-8 week courses at Jersey City Arts School (326 Fifth St.). Learn portrait drawing, ceramics, or beginner or intermediate drawing and painting. While these courses are for adults, there is an age 12+ course titled “Comics,” which the school describes as “understanding the skills, processes and techniques involved in the time-honored tradition of juxtaposing words and images in a sequential format, otherwise known as cartooning.”
