My Favorite Things: Summer 2021

Jersey City is Out & About…

As restrictions lifted and weather warmed up, Jersey City exploded like a glitterbomb all over the sidewalks.

The Jersey City Mural Festival

The first Jersey City Mural Festival is happening this summer on June 5th and 6th, 12pm to 7pm. Immerse yourself in 35 murals across the city, from Harborside to Journal Square to Hamilton Park. The event is free and open to the public. Food trucks, restaurant pop-ups and beer gardens populate the path.

Pools, again

There is nothing better than being able to take a dip after work or during a break on a hot, WFH day. Jersey City has no shortage of pools, from public pools to the private ones most luxury residences house. (Which is why it’s important to have friends in at least one building in every zip code.)

Outdoor  music/ live concerts in Jersey City
Live music is coming back with a vengeance in all corners of Jersey City during summer 2021. Here are just a few of the planned events/venues.

Ice cream, all Heights options

The Heights’ ice cream scene keeps expanding. Summer 2021 has favorites Dahlia’s, Milk Sugar Love and Angel’s Recipe joined with newer finds Mango Loco and Stacks. And let’s not forget our ice cream trucks, reliable at our parks and humming down our blocks just when that 11pm craving hits.

La Festa Italiana

It’s that time of year again when Italians take over 5th and 6th streets in downtown Jersey City. La Festa Italiana is a week-long street festival at Holy Rosary Church that celebrates Italian Heritage, Food and Faith. Expect live entertainment, games and rides for the kids. The final day consists of Mass and a parade, concluding with the drawing of the Super 50/50 Cash Raffle which, on average, has a prize of over $10,000.

JC Pompidou

The Centre Pompidou of France houses the largest collection of modern art in all of Europe, and now Jersey City will be joining Brussels, Metz and Shanghai as its partner. Jersey City will be home to a world-class museum with full access to Pompidou’s immense collection of artwork, expertise and other cultural assets. Pompidou-Jersey City will open in 2024.
