Jersey City Freedom & Fireworks Festival

YAAAS, Jersey City. Shout out your Fourth of July Freedom from the rooftops, or just join the party on ground level at Liberty State Park for the Freedom & Fireworks Festival.

Here we have live bands, carnival rides, food & drink, and of course…fireworks on the Hudson River.

The best way to get to Liberty State Park is probably by bike, considering the long walk you will have by car or PATH methods. The next best option is the Light Rail. Please read NJ Transit Advisories for the Fourth of July Freedom & Fireworks Show to plan your trip for maximum fun.

Jersey City Surf Club

Learn to surf this summer Jersey City!

Jersey City Surf Club begins July 2nd and continues every Saturday into September (water conditions permitting). Lessons are provided by Eastern Lines Surf Shop and held at Belmar Beach (@ 10th Ave.) and includes round-trip transportation from Jersey City, a surf lesson with an instructor, a lifeguard and surfboard rental—all for $89! [Non Jersey City residents are $175]

The group meets at 6:15am at the Grove Street PATH station for 6:30am departure. By 7:30am you are already getting your surfing intro, followed by a two-hour water lesson.

You’ll be back in Jersey City by 11:30am to enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Surf Club is making it extremely easy for you, a Jersey City resident, to learn surfing. Take advantage! Register here.

Don’t forget: Sunscreen, towel, water.

Sustainable JC’s Mother Earth Celebration 4/30

Celebrate the Mother Earth Festival at The Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery (435 Newark Ave.) on Saturday, April 30th.

The annual fete celebrates over 350 years of nature. Go to:

*Learn about their All Volunteer Mission & Urban Youth FARM Club
*Meet the Animals & Livestock!
*Tour the Cemetery
*Listen to live music all day
*Eat, drink & explore the historic Jersey City treasure with family and friends

The festivities begin at 12pm and continue until 7pm. The event is hosted by Sustainable Jersey City SJC and music is sponsered by Rock-it Docket & Brunswick Sounds.

All About Downtown Street Fair 9/19

This Saturday, September 19th, is the all-out awesome All About Downtown Street Fair.

Stroll up or down Newark Avenue (between Grove St. and Jersey Ave.) to soak up live music, nosh on noms, sip adult bevvies, and shop from 11am-8pm. (Yay because I have to work until 5 and would hate to miss the best street fair ever!)

There will be over 100 local vendors, and plenty of fun activities for the kids, too.
